Gua Sha Visit: $25
Gua Sha is a Chinese medicinal therapy originally invented to help remove “cold winds” from the body. In Chinese medicinal theory cold winds create disorder and cause states of sickness. Gua Sha involves repeated unidirectional pressure strokes over lubricated skin using a smooth-edged tool to scrape the skin in order to increase circulation and promote healing. The scraping tool can be stone, jade, wood, ceramic, or any natural material.
Gua Sha is commonly used as therapeutic technique to treat neck and back pain, headaches, heat stroke, and motion sickness. Research shows that the repeated pressure strokes used in gua sha produce an anti-inflammatory response in the body that alleviates pain symptoms. It is common for patients to have red scrape marks that may be sensitive but there should not be any bleeding.
