Cupping visit (varying times): $25
Cupping is a form of Traditional Chinese Medicine that uses localized suction on the skin using glass jars, or “cups”. The traditional name for Cupping is “baguan” which translates “suction therapy”. The resulting suction and pressure created in the cup encourages the flow of blood and promotes healing.
Today the glass cups are fitted with a valve that attaches to a small hand-operated pump to create a vacuum in the cup when placed on the patient. At Ally Acupuncture we use the traditional method of using fire to create the vacuum in the cup prior to placing them on the patient. Cups are generally left on the skin for shorter periods but may also be left on for an extended time. It is typical to have some mild, painless, red marking at the site of placement. Recent research and studies show that cupping is an effective method for pain, dermatologic, and other various disorders.
